A-frame crane is kind of special lifting equipment, which is different from the normal slewing cranes, for it's operating
and rotating in the vertical plane, obtaining features such as high SWL, wide usage range etc. It's widely used in
science expedition ship, marine research ship, and engineering ship, serving as main supporting device for them.
There are 2 ways for its operating requirements and installation position.
Shipstern A frame Crane: it's mainly used for handling ROV, cable connection and deep tow.
Futher more, it can be used for lifting steel structure and offshore installation.
Shipboard A frame Crane : it's used for geological sampling from seabed.
Shipstern A frame Crane consists of 2 parts, A frame structure and special usage winch, the latter can be customized.
The turning movement of shipstern A frame crane can be done through luffing cylinder, therefore, should
equip special oil pump and electric system. Anti-swing device is installed on A frame crane, it consists
of anti-swing boom, cone roller and anti-swing cylinder. When ship pitching, the wire rope swing control is
within standard range through telescopic operation of anti-swing cylinder to adapt the anti-swing boom's
Besides this, on A frame Crane installed assistant winch and pulley for handlingand installing the operating
ShipboardA frame crane is mainly used for operations such as underwater robot, deep tow, television grab sampling,
hydrological sampling and deep water shallow drilling etc.
According to the operation requirements, can use CTCU winch, Geological coring reel, deep tow and CTD
winch, using rope alignments, high intense guide pulley devices, damper, wire rope guide tow winch, and
assistor to connect the operating wire rope with main pulley and connectors, so that can operate various kinds of sea research tasks.

Increase operation time of ROV and subsea lifting operations by AHC
AHC is an actibe Heave Compensation control system for winches and cranes used for subsea operations.
The system includes a MRU(motion reference unit) measuring vessel heave, pitch and roll motion. AHC is
controlling the winch to eliminate vessel motion being transferred to the load. The winch operator has precise
control over load, also when operating in rough sea conditions. Scantrol AHC adapts to varying load and
operating conditions to maintain safe and efficient compensation without overloading the winches. AHC
will increase operational time window and minimize teather related downtime.
Landing and pickup from seabed
Precise and safe handling of subsea equipment during landing, pickup and positioning. AHC controls the
winch to compensate for vessel motion and eliminate vessel motion being transferred to the load. The winch
operator has precise control, and can heave, lower, or position the load without influence from the ships motions.
AHC keeps the TMS at a fixed position. Docking of the ROV against the TMS can be done safe and controlled
without the vessel motion on the waves compromising the TMS position.
The AHC function will give improved and accurate control also when deploying and retrieving.
